Settings for GSTAR-EX camera

Changing settings via the 5-way OSD buttons or GSTAR-COMM.
* Press and hold centre button to activate display.

For deep sky imaging, these are the most used camera settings.

TITLE OFF
SENSE UP x128
ALC/ELC ALC - shutter to off
BLC OFF
AGC MANU - level set to maximum
W/B ATW
SYNC INT
OPTION SET - GAMMA to 0.45
ZOOM OFF (ON and maximum for focusing)
MOTION DET OFF
EXIT SAVE

For focusing, set the sense up to off or 6x - 8x for fainter stars.
The Zoom function also helps with critical focusing.

 

 
 

Depending on your capture device, you may have options to increase software gain, this will help reveal faint objects.
This will also enhance noise.

To compensate for the extra noise, record more video frames to help cancel it out in the stacking process.

I've found with my system that 400 to 800 frames will cancel most of the noise.
