Morns Ruben Jane

Ruby was bred by Brian & Mathea Usher of Santa Rio Quarter Horse Stud, Tullamore NSW, in 1983. She was purchased by Karen Gorrie (nee English) of Albert, NSW as a rising 2 yr old.

Ruben has only had and will only ever have 2 owners in her life - being the breeders Santa Rio and Karen.  Ruby is sired by THE Super Sire Morn Deck (Lion Deck x Doc’s Misty Morn) and she is out of the grand old matriarch Naroo Quarter Leteasha  (Solid Play x Rare Chex mare).  She is best known to her friends around  K’n’K  Quarter Horses - her home in Dubbo NSW, as  Ruby (Jewel in the crown) or  Ruben , she stands 15.2hh being grey she loves nothing better than a lovely mud pack after a bath or some rain, a swim in the dam doesn’t go astray in the summer months. She doesn’t have a nasty or spiteful bone in her body and has been an absolute pleasure to own and educate.  Ruben’s  mum  ’Tish  has been a super successful broodmare with her babies all going on to excel in their area of expertise most achieving National and/or State titles with these horses being full brothers to  Ruben

There are others, the list could just go on.  Morn Deck her sire needs no introduction being named Super Sire more times than anyone can remember, he not only had the looks to win at halter but the grace to go on and prove the same under saddle with many major titles being bestowed upon this great horse, his progeny have also helped to carve him a niche` in AQHA history. He is the ONLY stallion to stand SUPREME HALTER EXHIBIT at the AQHA National Championships twice whose progeny was also honoured with the same title, this was made even more memorable by the fact that the horse in question happened to be a 2yr old Filly  Morns Ruben Jane .  Ruben was the last Female Exhibit in the history of the AQHA National Championships to be honoured with this title.
Morn Deck was inducted into the AQHA Hall Of Fame in 1999 - the greatest honour that the AQHA can bestow.
Some of Ruben’s major achievements within her career would definitely have to begin with her Supreme Exhibit at 1986 AQHA National Titles in SA, she also went on to prove that she was more than just a pretty face at that show by winning the 2 & 3 yr old Western Pleasure and being awarded Reserve Champion title in the Western Pleasure Futurity. In 1986 she also went on to take out Hi-point Awards, with many wins both at halter and under saddle. In 1987 on the Victorian Southern Circuit she was awarded Hi-Point Mare/Filly of the circuit, also maintaining her high standard of excellence under saddle, she went on to many successes finally reaching the pinnacle that year under saddle by going undefeated at the NPHA Pleasure Celebration in both her Snaffle Bit Western Pleasure, the Western Pleasure Futurity and then to show people that she was a lady of many talents went on to clean the pool in the Bridle Path Hack Futurity and the Snaffle Bit Bridle Path Hack. WOW she knew no boundaries this gorgeous girl!!! In 1988 Ruben went on to the Victorian Southern Circuit once again this time to show the guys just what this NSW girl could do under saddle taking out the Hi-Point Jnr Bridle Path Hack and Runner Up Hi-Point Open Performance horse of the Circuit !!! There was no stopping her now, so on to the AQHA Nationals and a win in the Amateur Owner Western Pleasure, followed by a win in the Amateur Owner Trail; she also had many placing’s throughout that show.  We then went on to the Premier State show to take out the coveted Hi-Point Amateur Owner award.
Her AQHA awards are:

As we have already said this mare knows no boundaries, whatever goals we have set for  Ruby  throughout her blessed life she has always given 110%, there was never any halfway for her, with all that she has done for Karen she was to be rest assured of her home living in a manner to which she has become accustomed at  KnK  Quarter Horses with her girl friends, for the rest her days!!!!

Sadly Ruben Jane was put down in April of 2004 – just days before the National Championships a place where her star had shone so brightly…
Her brother KnK Im Just Cool was to make his debut at this show and it was up to him to uphold the family honour.  He was entered in the Inaugural Pleasure Driving event to show the true diversity of this bloodline – He did us all proud by coming home with the National Title… and a placing in the Halter class also not bad for a gelding that was sold as a non competition horse due to a paddock accident.
